Weeks 3 & 4

It's been a mad couple of weeks at work, as we've neared the end of a big software implementation. Working crazy hours is never good, but is potentially very triggering when on a killer diet. I've got to say though that working from home, where temptation is either hidden or just isn't here has made it easier to continue to follow the plan and eat well.

No weight yet, as we're saving that for Friday, when I go to my second appointment with Vanusa. But there are some changes to report!

  • my trousers don't really fit anymore - not just falling down at the waist, but also a lot roomier in the rear! None of my belts are any use anymore!
  • I'm finding my shirt stays tucked in longer, presumably because it's not got so much work to do around my midriff. 😂
  • I'm reliably informed that for the reduction in Krakatoan snoring alone, this has been worth it for my darling wife.
  • Provided I don't push it too much past 35 mins, I'm perfectly able to jog for that amount of time without my knees complaining, and may even be getting a bit faster.
  • I've survived 2 birthday cakes with just a sliver on each occasion
  • my enormous belly is definitely on the retreat - there are photos, but I'll spare you!
  • I went to the pub with some pals, and not only did I not eat the peanuts or crisps, I also drank water, and still had a great evening catching up. Besides, they all drank more than enough to cover for me.
  • There's a bit of selfishness inherent in diets / big lifestyle changes like this, I've decided, which is necessary if you want to be successful. Luckily my family understand that for the next few months, I'm looking after myself, and not sharing my carefully weighed out food!

I've continued to enjoy the food, especially with the addition of veg not on the plan from the substitution list, and am still generally following the plan pretty closely. Inevitably, there's a little bit of making it up as I'm going along some days - for example, today I feel slightly guilty about making some cabbage and bunging in a pot of marscapone - the recipe called for cream, but we didn't have any - but my goodness, it was delicious and definitely worth the bollocking! But, I'm on plan the vast majority of the time.

I've not missed much yet - apart from sausages & lentils, of all things. I've not had a spud or a bowl of pasta for 4 weeks, nor any crisps, biscuits or sweets raided from the kids' sweetie jar. I'm looking forward to the next stage of the plan.

Thanks as ever for reading, and here's some of the nice grub I've had recently - Malaysian Red Curry with kale, and Prawns with courgetti!

Onwards!

    1. Agreed - she's 100% the reason for this, she pushed my defensive far arse into it, and is being so supportive & understanding too. Even eyes up my food jealously 😂
