Week 10

Image
This week was one of those slow ones which always happen when you're looking forward to something - in this case, my next appointment with Vanusa, and the all important weigh in! However, there were a few days to negotiate before Friday came around. The food continues to be great, though I have found the fasting morning to be a trial. I think I need to buy shares in garlic & chilli flakes, I'm getting through so much of the stuff! Nothing I'm cooking is particularly complex or complicated - it's just freshly made each day with fresh ingredients. Having the new oven is an absolute godsend, as most things just go into an ovenproof dish and get baked. Breakfast - H makes the best scrambled eggs! Lunch - chicken with broccoli & Cauliflower rice, with sweet potatoes. Dinner - baked fish with beans & tomatoes. And lots of garlic! On the exercise front, it was quite tricky this week - Gaby's been side-lined with a sprained knee, which meant a lot of ferrying th...

Weeks 8 & 9

It's been a couple of weeks since my last post. Last weekend I was out and about most of the time - bike rides on Saturday & Sunday, walk in the park on Saturday afternoon. H said wearily as we got home at 6pm on Saturday, having been out since 9ish "you've broken me Dad" - poor lamb!😂😎 I think I've broken him again today, taking him out for a muddy ride in the woods in the rain, which wasn't as long, but was tough. I'm only human after all. But the main thing is that I'm not reverting to former bad habits & grazing, or finishing off leftovers, or having a wafer thin slice or 3 of cheese with a couple of biscuits... There's an element of fasting now, on Tuesday & Thursday - no breakfast, and no tea until lunchtime. This is proving tough, and the other day I ...

Week 7 - half term

I had a few days off work this week, as it's half term. Not half term for me, I'm not quite 2 months in, but the kids were off, and so we started the week by visiting my Mum in Canterbury. It was fun to drive along some of the lanes I cycled down in August on an epic ride to Whitstable with my friend Mike, and the autumn sunshine, colour & light was beautiful. I took a packed lunch - thanks Anna for the flask you gave me for Christmas a couple of years back, it's proving very useful - and so wasn't tempted by the crisps & pasties the kids were scoffing. I can't lie though, there were some pangs of longing.  On Tuesday I went for a great muddy bike tide along the Thames with my friend Mark, from Hampton Court to Putney, where we had a cuppa in a pub with our friend Ben - admirably resisting my usual pub fare of beer, chips & crisps. What's happening to me! On the way home by train I missed a connection at Clapham and decided to try and go back through...
